If Seattle is famous for something other than rain, it's fish tossing and coffee. Seattleites love their coffee, which is not surprising considering it's the home base of Starbucks and my long time favorite, Seattle's Best.
Originally roasted on Pier 70 by one man who converted a peanut roasting plant into a coffee roasterie, the brand is still considered a favorite amont locals with it's uncharacteristically smooth finish. It was voted in a blind taste test as Seattle's best cup of coffee, and I'd be hard pressed to dissagree. If I was lucky enough to know someone traveling to the West Coast, I'd get a bag of their beans imported once a year.
It felt like a right of passage into the coffee world when I finally made it to a Seattle's Best coffee shop myself, thanks to a front desk agent at the Marriott who mapped out the nearest location for my morning fix. I grabed a freshly brewed cup of their Seattle's Best Blend, all the while raving to my dad about the charmingly smooth taste, ordered a bag of vaccum sealed ground beans to take home and sat down in the all-red café to enjoy the perfect cup. My head was spinning; this is one cupe of joe capable of clearing rainy skies.
Another accomplishment checked off my list of food related travel goals.
